Reasons to Shred #3 Your Customers

By now we are all familiar with the terrible situation Target found themselves in - they got hacked.  Did they take the necessary precautions to protect their customer data, honestly I don't know, I like to believe they did.

Is your company as large as Target, or a small one person company?  Either way your customers have an expectation of protecting information they consider to be extremely confidential.  In fact, whether you know it or not you have an "implied contract" to protect that information based on the fact that you are collecting the data to conduct business.  They have a legal right to expect that you will take all steps necessary to protect that information, including shredding it before it gets discarded.

Whether your customers are consumers concerned about identity theft and privacy or companies concerned with trade information you are entrusted with information that is considered to be extremely confidential.

One of the necessary steps in protecting your customers and yourself is shredding that sensitive material with a reputable and NAID certified document destruction company.  Not only does this protect your customers it protects your company and its reputation.

MONCO SDD is certified through NAID with a Triple A certification, not only are we cost effective, we don't lock you into any contracts and we provide employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.  If you are interested in learning more about MONCO SDD and what we can do for you company, please feel free to contact me!

Reasons to Shred - Number 1

Reasons to Shred

1. The Law -
Your organization must comply with laws and regulations requiring it to protect certain information when discarded. An increasing number of laws actually require organizations to shred or face steep fines. At the federal level HIPPA (healthtcare) and Gramm Leach-Bliley (financial) require specific physical safeguards such as shredding to meet compliance. Stiff penalties could result!
